Do I need an Echo Dot to enjoy my VAUX?
Yes. The VAUX is an accessory design specifically to work with the Amazon Echo Dot 2nd Generation. It is not a stand alone device and can only be use with the Dot.
What's in the box?
Just the VAUX and a quick start guide to get you going. Everything you need to connect to your Echo Dot is built-in to VAUX. Since your Dot will be powered by the VAUX, you can use your Dot power cord as the charging cord for your VAUX.
How do I pair my Dot with VAUX?
Unplug your Echo Dot. Pull back the silicone cover on the back of your VAUX. Underneath it you’ll see a micro-usb connector and a 3.5mm headphone style jack. Nest your Dot into the top of the VAUX, then plug in the micro-usb and 3.5mm connectors into Dot. Re-seat the silicon cover. When you need to recharge your VAUX, you can use your Echo Dot charging cable. Enjoy!
Can I use my VAUX outside?
The VAUX was designed mainly for indoor home use. VAUX is not water-proof or water-resistant, so you want to make sure that if you use it outside on your patio, it is placed in a dry place.
Can my VAUX be used while charging?
Absolutely. And once you are fully charged, continue to use your VAUX plugged in or cord-free.
How long does it take to charge my VAUX?
Charging VAUX when not in use will take about 5-6 hours. If you are using your VAUX as it is charging, it will take about 8-12 hours. When fully charged, VAUX battery run time is about an average of 6 hours (this will vary depending on usage and volume levels (higher volume decreases cordless time, lower volume increases it). The LED light on the back of the VAUX will indicate it’s current state.
- Amber: Not powered on, but charging.
- Green: Not powered on, but fully charged.
- Blue: Powered on.
- Blue/Amber flashing: Battery power low. Time to recharge.
My VAUX makes a single “pop” sound when I turn it on. Is there something wrong with it?
No. Your VAUX goes though a boot up process with Echo Dot while it is connecting to your wifi. This is a normal part of the start-up process.
How do I control the volume on my VAUX?
The volume is controlled with the volume (+ and –) buttons, located on the top of your Dot. Alexa can also control the volume for you. Review all Alexa features and skills through the Alexa app or go to www.amazon.com for more information.
Why is there a headphone jack on the back of my VAUX?
This allows you to plug an MP3 player, cell phone or other music source into your VAUX. Note that when the headphone jack is plugged in and in use, it will override the Dot audio and functionality. Unplugging the auxiliary device returns Dot audio and functionality.
Why isn't my VAUX working?
Are the micro-usb and 3.5mm jack connections are secure between the Dot and the VAUX? Is your VAUX is turned on (LED light should be blue)? Is your VAUX charged? Is your VAUX within range of the wifi network that the Dot was linked to? If you’ve checked all of the above and VAUX still isn’t working, contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
